Our client, a well established manufacturing company located in Concord, is looking for two Quality Technicians to
add to their growing team.


These positions report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager lead the on floor quality initiatives of the plant
and ensure compliance to all customer requirements as stated in Advanced Quality planning (AQP) documents,
Item notes and inspection documents for your shift(s). You will be the immediate mill contact for all issues
related to the adherence to Quality documents and review and interpretation of related test data. You will
train new and returning operators on the quality and safety tasks of the job at hand. Using a hand's on approach,
you will perform regular audits of your area of responsibility to ensure all customer and internal requirements are met

Main Duties/Activities
• Work in a plant "Pro-Active Team" environment, with all other departments. Reviewing all production methods
for compliance to quality standards and for improvement of product quality standards.
• Assist or conduct regular floor audits of equipment and process
• Assist in the corrective action process with yours team. Assist in Kaizen events and Cost improvement activities.
• Support internal auditing at other divisions at WTC when required or scheduled.
• All other duties as required by the Quality Engineering manager..
Specific Responsibilities
• Confirm all gauges are calibrated and working within their calibration period.
• Confirm documents and forms are of the most recent version
• Ensure Tensile test pieces are collected and tensile test are performed (as required for the product/item notes)
• Resolve all tensile failures with collection of retest samples and or placing the material in quarantine.
• Verify Chem samples are collected and forwarded for analysis (as required for the product/item notes)
• Ensure Charpy samples are cut and sent for Analysis
• Maintain and store met samples and metallographic specimens as per work instructions
• Ensure all supplies required for the day to day operation of the Laboratory are available.
• Coordinate the various tests that may be required from time to time with all outside laboratories
• Verify Ultrasonic systems are calibrated and operating properly
• Ensure mill defect paint system is functioning with paint in the reservoir
• Prepare all weld macros/micros and TWA's
• Ensure process and test data is collected
• Maintain all measuring instruments in an accurate and acceptable condition
• Ensure completion of all steps involved with placing material on hold, including the tagging, transfers and
removal of tags for any material placed on hold by any area of QA. Maintain complete control of all material
that has been ID;ed as being discrepant from the moment it has been identified
• As applicable, update and disposition secondary inspection material (Crab)
• As applicable, determine and submit colour coding for all Q&T orders and submit to crew
• Assist outside yard personnel with shipping issues
• Train plant employees on quality tasks/work instructions
• Review and sign off on mill prestart forms and report any issues to the maintenance or plant manager.
• Ensure personnel are working in a safe manner
• Assist in calling personnel in the case of crewing shortages
• Where necessary, retrieve from stockroom suppliers when attendant not on duty
• Call in maintenance, outside contractors during breakdowns.
• Complete first aid/accident investigation reports
Skills and Knowhow
• Grade 12 minimum, college diploma in an Engineering Discipline would be considered an asset
• Minimum 5 years supervisory experience within an Industrial manufacturing environment. Experience within
the Steel or pipe manufacturing is an asset.
• Good communication skills, written and verbal.
• Past experience with steel examination and an understanding of the steel making process is a definite asset..

This is an excellent, long term opportunity with a stable company with a very competitive rate of $50-55k depending on experience with benefits after 3 months.

There are two position available:
Position #1 Monday through Friday 6:00pm-2:00am

Position #2 (Weekend Warrior) works 26 hrs per week, paid at rate of 1.5 (full time pay)
Friday 10:40pm to 6:00am
Saturday 5:00pm to 3:00am
Sunday 2:00pm to 10:40pm
