Background:

Helps newly arrived refugees reach self-sufficiency by finding entry-level employment and learning basic financial management skills. The Center then helps refugees move towards more lasting financial stability by advancing in the workforce, starting small businesses, and building savings and assets.

Scope:

The Financial Education Program Specialist will support the Financial Education Program through the supervision of financial counselors, coordination of financial education services to clients and timely entry of data into the management database.

Responsibilities:

•Supervise the Asset Building Coordinator and Financial Education Program AmeriCorps members, which includes conducting performance management, coordinating service delivery, and ensuring that program activities and outcomes are documented in client case files and electronic database records.

•Provide one-on-one counseling and coaching to help program participants develop financial plans, increase assets, reduce debts, and establish positive credit histories. Refer program participants to employment, career development, transportation, and micro-enterprise programs as appropriate.

•Support the management of the Efforts-to-Outcomes (ETO) Case Management Database, including uploading client data and managing the monthly entry of credit building data.

•Conduct financial education training sessions and administer pre- and post-assessments. Assist program participants with accessing mainstream financial services, including off-site visits to open bank accounts and apply for credit cards

•Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

•Bachelor's degree required.
•High level of familiarity with Canadian credit and banking system and experience with personal budgeting, banking, and credit counseling strongly preferred.
•1-3 years experience with client counseling, case management, or coaching required. Previous experience recruiting and managing volunteers preferred
•1-2 years supervisory experience preferred
•Previous multi-cultural experience and demonstrated ability to communicate well with people of varied backgrounds strongly preferred.
•Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to make presentations required.
•Computer literacy (MS Office) required
