Description

Our client, an international mining company with corporate operations in downtown Toronto, is looking for an IT Security Administrator to work on a full-time, permanent basis. Reporting to the Manager, IT Operations an IT Security Administrator will develop, establish and maintain standards, procedures, information systems policies and guidelines to promote the security and effective operation of computer-based systems. In addition, this position will be responsible for the protection of the assets and information, which are processed by or stored in, computerized information systems. This position will be based in Toronto, Canada.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Establish and maintain information security standards and procedures in compliance with information security and risk management policies, standards and guidelines.
• Enact, implement, monitor and administer enterprise information security policies and standards.
• Manage the information security function in accordance with established policies and guidelines.
• Enact, implement, monitor and administer enterprise information security policies and standards.
• Provide technical assistance in the configuration and maintenance of WAN/LAN network security devices.
• Investigate security breaches, misuse of computer resources, misuse of internet access, and other violations of information security policies and standards/personnel rules of employee use of technology.
• Perform network security testing, network penetration and network security compliance auditing and assist or coordinate implementation of security solutions.
• Coordinate information security efforts with appropriate departments when security or IT practices or procedures are breached or compromised.
• Provide reporting on information security issues to Director of Information Technology and IT Operations Manager.
• Coordinate and lead security orientation and security awareness programs.
• Help build and architect Global Security of computer systems and networks.
• Act as the on-site IT presence in the Toronto office to assist corporate staff with IT issues, and liaise with 3rd party technical support.
• Other duties responsibilities may be assigned as required.


QUALIFICATION, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED


• 5-7 yrs Management Information Systems experience working in an enterprise environment with an emphasis in IT security.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
• Knowledge of WAN/LAN network security devices such as the firewalls, VPN (Virtual Private Network), IDS (Intrusion Detection System) and IPS (Intrusion Prevention System).
• Strong skills in Cisco ASA firewalls and Sonic wall.
• Familiarity with Cisco Wireless access points and controllers, Cisco networking switches and Riverbed.
• Ability to work with both Linux (Redhat) and Microsoft Windows servers and clients (Windows 7).
• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP configuration and maintenance.
• Experience with MPLS networks desirable.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, IE, Word and Excel).
• Broad theoretical and technical knowledge and knowledge of critical organization practices and goals.
• In-depth operational knowledge of the area of functional responsibility: computer operations and support, security and networking.
• Comfortable in setting up, monitoring and configuring syslog servers and web proxy servers, and DNS infrastructure.
• Ability to recommend appropriate technology to meet corporate data security needs.
• Good knowledge of Active Directory design and concept of "least privilege", including Group Policy and OU structure within Active Directory.
• Strong skills in securing client (Windows 7) end point devices, through the use of ant-virus and malware tools, personal firewall and data encryption. A keen interest in keeping up to date with technological developments.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to the information processed, stored or accessed by the network.
• Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the systems being supported.
