Location: Downtown, Toronto

JOB SUMMARY:
Proactively manage the design, development and implementation of a variety of corporate programs and policies related to assigned area of responsibility (e.g. base pay, variable pay, short and long term incentive arrangements, executive compensation, etc), ensure tools are in place to execute and sustain programs effectively. Lead and coach other members of the Total Rewards team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensure effective and proactive resource planning and deployment to meet business needs. Provide leadership and direction to reporting staff and collaborate with colleagues. Establish a team environment that encourages open communication and is focused on the achievement of clear and defined goals and objectives. Act as coach and facilitator to develop and sustain a supportive team environment; actively work with staff to attain optimal work performance with a high level of personal responsibility. Conduct regular performance assessments, ensure staff are properly trained and developed, and resolve performance issues. Recognize and reward achievements.

• Regularly review the designs and develop recommendations for new or revised corporate compensation programs and policies (e.g. base pay, variable pay, short and long term incentive arrangements, executive compensation, etc) to ensure programs continue to meet corporate strategies and business objectives, including competitiveness.

• Plan, develop and lead implementation plans for a variety of corporate compensation projects, carry out process reviews and participate in cross-functional project teams.

• Monitor the sustainability of programs and policies on an ongoing basis to ensure competitiveness, currency and compliance as well as an appropriate level of communication. Collaborate with internal partners to ensure all required tools (e.g. guidelines, procedures, other materials) are in place to support programs and policies and adhere to the corporate philosophy and legislated requirements

• Direct and oversee the measurement of the internal value of positions within the Company through the Job Evaluation system. Direct and oversee the measurement of the external value of benchmark positions within the Company through the annual pay survey cycle. Direct and oversee the compliance of hourly rates across the Company with provincial minimum wage legislation.

• Provide and ensures an internal source of expertise for all areas of compensation. Maintain contacts with compensation experts in other organizations and with external professional agencies and associations to keep current with general trends and competitor programs. Be accountable for external vendor/service provider selection and management.




QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree
• Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designations preferred
• Two to three (2-3) years of experience at a compensation manager level
• Direct experience managing a team of 3+
