Coordinator
Position Type: 2-Year Contract
Job Region: ON -- Maple Area Application Deadline: August 1st, 2012


We are a Not-for-Profit organization committed to empower youth and their families by promoting well-being through Sports, Culture and Support Groups in Vaughan and its surroundings.
Working under the supervision of the Board Members, the Project Coordinator is the lead person responsible for outreach and for coordinating the implementation of specific public engagement initiatives.

Responsibilities:
• Working closely with Board Members and Volunteers to establish achievable outreach and program goals and objectives, measurements and outcomes
• Responsible for forming an Advisory Committee
• Create and implement outreach plan and surveys
• Community and school presentations, distribution of flyers/other promotional items
• Development and implementation of public engagement-related special initiatives: Sports Tournaments, Volunteer Appreciation Day, Award ceremonies, focus groups
• Conducts surveys to evaluate specific public engagement initiatives and to enhance information about our services, seeking out success stories
• Develop recruiting, screening, training and retention strategies for volunteers
• Recruit, screen, hire and train volunteers
• Supports programs administration and volunteer staff through leadership and motivation
• Develop additional special events and work closely with volunteers to promote fundraising and sponsorship efforts
• Prepare and monitor monthly and final reports required for organization support and project funding, including outreach efforts and progress
• Other duties as required

Qualifications:
• University/college degree or equivalent
• 1-2 years administration, outreach and/or marketing experience
• Ability to coordinate events and be committed to make a difference in the community
• Highly motivated, organized, detail-oriented, self-starter
• Proven ability to work with youth in a sensitive and inspirational manner, and provide leadership as required.
• Flexible outside regular office hours, especially around event dates
• Strong interpersonal, writing, and public speaking communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with volunteer staff
• Experience with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet, Simply Accounting
• Access to a car important
